What to Expect in Burnsville
Since chiropractic care involves a series of visits, with each one building on the ones before, it’s important that our relationship can go the distance. We’ve found that one of the best ways to have successful patient relationships is to explain everything in advance. No surprises!
The more you understand who we are, what we do and why we do it, the better results you’ll enjoy. It’s as simple as that.

Your 1st Visit to Valley Chiropractic Associates
A thorough health history will be taken to better understand your overall health needs and concerns. This will enable the doctor to determine whether or not chiropractic care would be appropriate for you. This is a complimentary visit.
A complete physical examination will enable the doctor to locate areas suffering from the vertebral subluxation complex (joint dysfunction) and other structural problems or concerns. This will help determine the structural relationship of your spine and how this may be adversely affecting your health.
Our office focuses on the structural relationship of the spine and nervous system with its overall effect on health. We underscore that a specific approach toward correcting spinal conditions will produce long-lasting and permanent results well beyond the recommended treatment plan.
X-rays and Analysis
X-rays are helpful in determining spinal misalignment patterns along with postural assessment, and joint and disc analysis. X-rays also help to rule out any disease process and/or fractures.
The instrument of choice in the Gonstead System is the Nervoscope.
The Nervoscope detects uneven distributions of heat along the spine which can be indicative of inflammation and nerve pressure. This instrument is guided down the length of your back and feels like two fingers gliding down each side of your spine.
“The doctor of the future will give no medicine,
but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet,
and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
- Thomas Edison
Your Second Visit
Report of Findings
The doctor will review the results and findings of your examination and x-rays, then will explain how he/she feels chiropractic care may benefit you.
After the complete and thorough analysis, a treatment plan can begin. The focus of our care is to provide specific, precise and accurate spinal adjustments to only the problem areas (subluxated joints).
The goal of the adjustment is to restore normal alignment and healthy joint motion in order to improve a neurological function and health, along with preventing or minimizing joint degenerative changes.
If subluxated joints have been present for a length of time, degenerative changes may exist. This may require longer periods of time and treatment for optimal recovery to occur.
Since we view health and healing in a holistic approach it may become beneficial and necessary to include lifestyle and nutritional counseling.
