Dr. Jacob Zika

Dr. Zika earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic (DC) from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 2007 and is certified in the Gonstead methodology.

Dr. Zika discovered the specialty of Gonstead chiropractic at the age of 24 while serving in the U.S. Army. During a first aid training maneuver, he hoisted a fellow soldier over his shoulder and herniated two discs, resulting in months of knife-stabbing pain in his low back and left leg, rendering him unable to be in a sitting position. After finding minimal relief with physical therapy, acupuncture, medical doctors, and various chiropractors, Dr. Zika was referred to a Gonstead chiropractor. The results were profound. The experience changed his life as well as his career path. He has since earned his specialty certification in Gonstead and has accepted the position of Associate at Valley Chiropractic Associates. read more...

How come medical doctors don't recommend chiropractic?
That's changing. Years of prejudice and bias are giving way to research showing the benefits of chiropractic care. As more and more Burnsville folks seek alternatives to drugs and surgery, more and more medical practitioners are referring their patients to chiropractors.
Do nerves actually get pinched?
Chiropractors recognize two types of nerve disorders involved in subluxation. The least common is a pinched nerve that diminishes nerve supply to an affected organ or tissue. More common is the irritated nerve (facilitative lesion) which overexcites nerve communications to an affected organ or tissue. Chiropractic care has been shown to help with both types.
